Time And Scarcity and Happiness

Time To Be Happy Right Now

Time To Be Happy Right Now

One of the major ideas that sticks the world together in a particular pattern is the idea of time.

You can find many people who talk about the future as if it is going to be better than the life they have now. It is as if they are waiting for some point, for some goal to be reached in order to allow themselves to be happy. (people actually wait for all kinds of things, but being happy is a popular one)

It is almost like they can’t allow themselves to be happy without reaching some kind of goal. Like they don’t deserve to be happy now, but for some reason, feel they must put this off into some other time.

Perhaps they have been taught this as a child, by a well meaning parent telling them that they must wait until Saturday to go to the park, or until 5:00 in the evening to eat or any of a thousand different things that people believe are important to wait for.

Kind of like the idea that delayed gratification is better than actually getting what it is you want.

A Limited Amount Of Goodness? (perish the thought)

That thought is rooted in the idea of there only being a limited amount of goodness in the world. And once that is used up, you are not going to be getting anymore. This is a scarcity idea, and is a very prevalent one.

People look out their window (metaphorically speaking) and decide that what they can actually see right this very minute is all that there is ever going to be. So they make a decision that they better make “it” last (whatever it is) because when “it” runs out, then it’s all over.

And the funny thing about beliefs is that they have a tendency to be true. True, at least, for the person who has that belief. Doesn’t mean a person can’t change their beliefs, they certainly can, it’s just that their perception of the world is a product of their beliefs and expectations that they are holding onto right now.

And if someone’s belief included the idea of scarcity, it is hard to argue with that. Because that is their belief.

But there is not really any reason why you have to share their belief. Even better, the part of the Universe that says everyone is in charge of themselves, says that you get to pick your beliefs and if you want new ones, you can certainly exchange yours.

And there will not be a restocking fee, either. No matter how long you have held onto your old belief.

It is certainly OK with the Universe if you want to be happy right now. No need to wait on that.

Great post – very inspiring. Thank you!
For most people, finding happiness is like a goal of life. And trying to achieve this goal makes life less simple and more complex. But I feel that the more you are looking the less chance you have finding it. Happiness is not something that can be found, happiness is something that can be felt. People should stop looking around and should start looking inside of themselves. Happiness is a feeling that is inside you and the only thing you have to do is find it. Happiness is a state of mind that is powered by your inner feelings. Find those feelings and you find happiness.
Best regards and lots of good posts for the future.

Thank you for your very kind words, Mai. That is nice that your nickname is Ms Happy. You are so right, happiness is not found be searching for it, it is found inside of ourselves by deciding that we are indeed going to be happy. Such a simple thought, that we are in control of how we feel. We see so many people who make their own lives so miserable, no reason why we can’t use that process for ourselves and make sour lives outstanding. :-)

    Hi Michael,

your post contains a lot of food for thought and has the potential to inspire people to look at their beliefs and maybe even reframe them to a more enjoyable one.

From my conditioning from parents who lost everything in the war in Germany I am aware of my tendency to save, penny pinch and fret over …
Awareness is the first step to change.

And yes, I agree with you, we do have free will to remain where we are or move forward.

Thank you so much for this!

Thank you for your kind words Yorinda. It is true, that the first step is awareness, we have to take a look at why we are not living the lives we want, or at least not getting the results we say we are wanting. And when we see ourselves in that new light of being powerful, then it it is a marvelous feeling to know we have such an abundance of power. :-)
