The path to the past is usually there where you can see it. But trying to spend our energy to travel back there or even to try and live there, doesn’t do us a lot of good.
Spending our energy in our days right now in the present moment is a much better use of our energy. We can remember our past, but live in the now. That works. But trying to live in the memories and come back to the present only for a few moments, leaves our lives as dry and dusty as a desert train track.
The idea that we are finished, once we have sorted out our beliefs and that we never have to examine them again is a very limiting idea. The truth is that the beliefs we grew up with may not serve us very well at all when we are grown. They might, but then again they might not and it is our responsibility to ourselves to figure that part out.
Once upon a time, when we were just starting out learning new ideas, we had no old beliefs to change. Whatever we accepted into our hearts was true, we had no filters in place to keep ideas away from our hearts. As we walked along a bit farther on the path of our lives, we did put those filters into place, but they only served to protect the beliefs we already had.
Even though our old beliefs had value, they worked for us, brought us comfort and made our journey understandable, sometimes it simply get to the point where we need to replace them, because they just don’t cut it anymore. Then it is time to let them go and get ourselves some shiny new beliefs that work for us in the present moment.
I Walk In Life With Beauty All Around Me
Beauty in front of me, Beauty behind me,
Beauty Above me, Beauty below me,
Beauty all around me,
I walk in Beauty…..
In the house of long life, there I wander.
In the house of happiness, there I wander.
Beauty before me,
Beauty behind me,
Beauty above me ,
Beauty below me,
Beauty all around me,
In old age traveling, with it I wander.
On the beautiful trail I am, with it I wander.
In beauty, it is begun,
In beauty, it is finished.
Such simple words, such a simple idea. The peace that comes with understanding that we do belong in the world, that we are a part of the Universe, that our lives are precious, is one that is beyond description.
In our day to day lives, we sometimes go too fast to be able to see the blurring beauty of the world as we run by. Take a moment just for today, just for that smallest of times in between inhale and exhale, to see the beauty of the world around us.
Just a couple of whispered words can create an enormous amount of change in our live. The power of gratitude for helping us bring what we want into our days is incredible. Simple, proven, effective – being grateful for everything brings us more opportunities to be grateful.
Not in an ugly way, like “You better be grateful for that food, there are starving kids who would be happy to have that to eat” but in an honest, heartfelt way. More like, “Thank you for my car, I love the ability I have to drive where I need to go” That kind of thinking can bring you a new car (if that’s what you want) a whole lot quicker than heaping curses on the car you have now.
You hear a lot about flow in the Universe. Flow of energy, flow of time, flow of prosperity, lots and lots of flow ideas. And once in a while you will hear somebody talking about being out of the flow.
Here’s the thing.
The nature of the Universe is flow. Everything, everywhere is always moving, always changing, always humming with that vital flow of energy that keeps the whole world moving. You can no more be out of the flow than you can be out of the Universe.
It just can’t be done.
But, you sure can make yourself feel that way. You can struggle through each of your days trying to keep your energy bottled up inside, fearing that when its gone there will nothing left for you. Letting yourself get ground down by the flow of the energy around you. Eventually, of course, you use all your stored energy up and then you have to get more.
And that getting of more energy is a whole lot easier if you have been practicing getting energy from the flow of the sea of energy around you, rather than resisting; fists doubled up into knots striving to hold onto something you view as finite.
The water in this stunning image is flowing, replenishing itself with its movement and its agreement to non-resistance. The beach on the other hand is made out of rocks, startling in their contrasting resistance.
Yes, the beach is made out of rocks, its just that the rock in the photo is the only one left. the others have already been ground down into sand.
Which path would you prefer to follow through life? Water or rock.
